JSG is currently seeking an Accountant for a full time opportunity supporting our long-time client near North Charleston, SC. The incumbent will be an integral member of the Accounting team, you’ll assist in ensuring efficient and accurate work at an advanced level under minimal supervision. The Accountant role is involved in all areas of general accounting. The Accountant is primarily responsible for daily transactions, journal entries, reconciliations, financial statement analysis, sales and use tax filings, collections, government contract accounting and special projects.
The Accountant will be directly responsible for monthly account reconciliations and government contract billing and collections. Reports to the Division Controller.
Responsibilities:
- Daily posting of bank transactions, invoice only purchases, cash receipts and customer invoicing;
- Preparation of month end, quarter end and year end tasks, reconciliations and journal entries in all the areas such as Payroll, AP, AR, Revenues and Accounting in general;
- Submit contract billing through customer and government web-based portals.
- Is responsible for accurate and timely government remittances;
- Assist with collections of past due accounts;
- Assist with contract closeouts;
- Preparation of weekly account payable check runs;
- Follow established policies and procedures and participate in process improvement initiatives;
- Prepare audit materials and interact with external auditors;
- Work on special projects as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience (Manufacturing Environment highly preferred)
Preferred:
- Microsoft Dynamics experience a plus.
