Johnson Service Group is recruiting for a Certified Medical Assistant for a great client of ours in Tampa FL.  This is initially a 6-month contract with a great opportunity for extension or rolling direct.

  • Prior experience in an outpatient clinic setting preferred. Competent to perform lab draws and complete EKG testing*
  • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures


  • Assists patients with ambulation and/or movement on/off exam table, chairs and/or in and out of wheelchairs utilizing proper body mechanics and safety measures such as, lift equipment.
  • After proper patient identification, performs initial patient screening, including vital signs, screening questions, allergy information, and medication history as appropriate.
  • Notifies appropriate staff of positive screening or abnormal vital signs.
  • Documents collected data completely and accurately in medical record including staff notifications.
  • Loads images in preparation for provider visit, as needed.
  • Ensures clinic patient flow is smooth and efficient.
  • Keeps patients and clinical team informed of delays.
  • Communicates effectively to patients, providers, nurses, and other team members.
  • Assists practitioner in patient procedures/treatments/examinations, including room preparation, patient positioning, supplies, and equipment.
  • Departs those patients from clinic that does not require nursing intervention.
  • Maintains and uses principles of aseptic techniques and universal precautions when performing clinical duties and tasks.
  • Assists patients to exam room and prepares patients for exam. Loads images in preparation for provider visit, as needed.
  • Assists provider as needed during the patient exam or procedure.
  • Reinforces appropriate patient instructions, health information materials and community resource lists as directed, and maintains educational supplies in the clinic. Departs those patients from clinic who do not require nursing intervention.
  • Under clinical supervision, performs delegated procedures common to the specialty area in a safe, effective, and efficient manner according to clinical practice policy and procedures.
  • Obtains and manages specimens, including: labeling, form completion, and transport to laboratories. Performs waived testing including quality control. 
  • Orders, stocks, and maintains exam rooms and clinic areas with standard levels of supplies, medications, linens, nourishments, forms and equipment.
  • Recognizes patient care trends affecting unit supplies and notifies the clinic manager.
  • Operates clinical equipment according to equipment procedures including safety and quality control checks. Checks clinic area and rooms for malfunctioning equipment and general maintenance problems. Reports findings as appropriate.
  • Works with the healthcare team to assure smooth and efficient patient flow and clinical operation. Problem solves obstacles to throughput and notifies manager and patients of wait time.  
  • Makes and/or Returns phone calls to patients within scope of practice as directed by RN, APP or Physician.  
  • Maintains competency in department specific procedures. 
  • Accesses or de-accesses vascular access devices per policy.  
  • Preforms venipuncture per policy.  
  • Preforms administrative and clerical tasks for clinical operations.  
  • Actively participates in 80% of all staff meetings.  
  • Maintain CEU requirements per certification.  
  • Supports other areas as needed.
