Johnson Service Group (JSG) is now hiring for a Continuous Improvement Supervisor (night shift) for our client’s Manufacturing facility in the Ogden, Utah area. The ideal candidate will assess opportunities for new process improvements using Lean principles. They will be responsible for keeping retention high and managing the performance of team members. This is a direct hire position on night shift 7pm – 7am with a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure with a Fortune 500 industry leader. This is a full-time direct hire

Shift: 7pm – 7am

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of manufacturing continuous improvement experience.
  • Education: 4-year degree in manufacturing, engineering, or a related field (preferred)
  • Lean training, certification (preferred)
  • Strong leadership, supervisory and interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to operate independently and in small multi-discipline teams.
  • Demonstrate participative problem solving, project management and continuous improvement skills.
  • Advanced organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Strong analytical and computer skills (MS Office)
  • Experience in a lean manufacturing environment (preferred)

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises a team of 10-15 employees to ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with company policies, practices, and applicable UL standards.
  • Ensure elimination of unsafe items from the operator pre-shift checklist

o Drive daily safety focus and culture

o Make certain that team members avoid at risk behaviors and, when necessary, holds team accountable for unsafe acts

o Monthly safety meetings topic responsibilities

o Conduct back shift drills (Fire and Tornado)

o Focused on equipment guarding

o Real time near miss focus and elimination of hazards

  • Conducts daily shift meetings to convey shift-to-shift handoffs of production activities.

o Facilitate Culture development

o Improved team member engagement

o Direct information flow both directions

  • Continuous improvement.

o Ensures daily 6S through GEMBA walks.

o Machine efficiencies

o New improvement opportunity identification using 80/20 techniques

o Use the techniques above for accountable with team to drive improvements in safety, scrap, cost, quality, and throughput

  • Partners with Engineering and Maintenance to identify, prioritize, and schedule maintenance activities.
  • OTIF (On Time In Full)

o Continuously communicate with distribution to ensure order completion

o Guides workflow by determining work priorities and allocating team manpower

  • Supports plant management with ongoing projects and trains production staff.

o Active role to ensure top projects are supported and moving forward to improve shop floor performance.

o Identify and implement projects to improve the bottom line (labor, scrap, usage)

o Ensure employees are crossed trained to level OT and production requirements.

o Work on identifying an action plan to continuously improve efficiencies and reduce OT.

o Work with scheduling to ensure product flow and labor match to meet demands.

  • Work with HR

o Ensure meals are ordered appropriately for team member appreciation

o Approve time sheets

o Assist HR with disciplinary action implementation and follow up.

  • New Hires

o After hours interviews and tours

o Check off completion of training

o Fosters a collaborative, self-directed work environment

  • Assign priorities to ensure top projects are completed (Utilize 80/20 principles)
