Great Opportunity! JSG is hiring a Director of Engineering in Alameda County! 

The Director of Engineering will translate marketing requirements and user needs into well-formed specifications, follow and improve our design control process, lead innovation, conceptualization and detailed design activities, oversee verification and validation, create the technical files required for global regulatory approvals, and transfer reliable and manufacturable designs to our Operations group. 

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee the investigation and evaluation of existing medical device technologies.
  • Guide the conceptualization of new methodologies, materials, machines, processes, or products.
  • Direct the development of new concepts from initial design to market release utilizing design control procedures consistent with company QMS
  • Manage feasibility studies of proposed design changes to determine if capable of the functionality intended.
  • Direct and manage reliability studies to provide evidence that current and new design will continue to meet intended functions during intended service-life.
  • Monitor, produce, and enforce documentation supportive of Company Quality policies throughout all phases of research and development.
  • Establish process capabilities and baseline performance through process studies.
  • Monitor the use of experimental techniques to develop well-designed and documented experiments that are statistically meaningful.
  • Remain intellectually current with industry standards and champion adoption of such standards and practices within the company during all phases of development including sustaining activities.
  • Organize the coordination of activities with suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery.
  • Manage the organizational budget and schedule to ensure on track completion of projects
  • Select, develop and nurture personnel to ensure the efficient operation of their functional obligations and career aspirations.
  • Nurture interpersonal skills, consensus building, and collaboration throughout the organization
  • Support quality department in preparation for and during audits
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
  • Ten or more progressive years of work experience in Engineering.
  • Two or more years, including one full product development cycle, in engineering management in the medical device, aerospace, automotive, or other regulated industry.
  • Management of at least three product development cycles involving electromechanical products.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma practices, DFSS or DFM.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship.
