Johnson Service Group, Inc. is actively seeking a Manager of Operational Excellence to work near the Fairburn, GA area.  This is a full time direct hire working with a Fortune 500, global organization and our client is hiring immediately.

Summary:

  • The Manager, Operational Excellence is responsible for handling the documentation of Policy and Standard Practices, including compliance activities, data structures, financial reporting standards, and business processes.
  • Examining software tools, processes, and records for compliance with policy and practice standards.
  • Coordinate external audit, internal audit and J-SOX audit processes, as required.
  • Champion Best Practices, including consistency and standardization across HA entities.

Essential Functions:

  • Primary/major job responsibilities that will be performed by this job.
  • Maintaining and optimizing policy and practice documentation for data structures, accounting, and financial reporting standards – flow charts, narratives, and risk control matrices, for HA Companies.
  • Maintaining and optimizing policy and practice documentation for business processes – flow charts, narratives, and risk control matrices, for all business processes that influence financial statements, across all HA Companies. Collaborate with Accounting, IT, and Operating departments to identify Best Practice methods regarding data structures (Chart of Accounts, Numbering schemes, etc.), financial data recording and reporting, business processes, automation/workflows, IT General Controls, segregation of duties, etc.
  • Develop and perform examinations of results of, and supporting documentation for, processes and transactions that result in financial information recorded and reported by HA.
  • Educate HA regarding internal and external compliance requirements and standards, on an appropriate routine frequency, as well as whenever changes to same require it. Ensure the organization is well-informed with regard to requirements and responsibilities.
  • Selection, engagement, coordination, and review of outside experts, where warranted. Selection, implementation, and optimization of software tools.
  • Optimize business processes that result in automated tax calculations, i.e. Sales tax on customer invoices, etc. Balance responsibilities that call for technical knowledge and proficiency, with people and process management. Leverage data, analysis, and role to apply business acumen and identify opportunities for financial, operational, policy, or process improvement including optimization of current tools and implementation of new tools to improve control, efficiency, scalability, etc. Serve as a member of HA, leading and participating in strategic projects of the Department, Finance Group, cross-functional teams, or at a Corporate level.

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 5+ years of auditing, business process and information systems evaluation, and compliance matters of a manufacturing company, or division of a large manufacturing company.
  • Ability to effectively apply and/or interpret COSO guidance and principles, whether based on existing knowledge or through research in unfamiliar areas. This includes documenting findings, developing and delivering recommendations.
  • Experience with ERP functionality, and Tax automation and research tools. Certifications in same appreciated.
  • Current CPA or other relevant certification preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable leading discussions with, or presenting to, Local or Parent Management. Ability to communicate and educate financial concepts to non-financial colleagues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Certifications in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Dynamics, or other ERP appreciated.
  • Supervisory experience of both degreed accountants and non-degreed team members appreciated.
  • Self-starter, able to organize and manage expectations and priorities for self and others, able to balance independent contribution with responsibility to lead, manage, develop, educate, measure, and train.
  • Strong project management skills. Formal training in same appreciated.

  • Proactive, with inherent belief in life-long learning, and intellectual tenacity when working through a challenge.
