Johnson Service Group is recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer for our client in Statham, GA

JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Develop designs for machinery using and applying engineering principles, research data and customer machine specifications.
- Confer with engineering, project management, sales personnel, and customers to clarify specifications, machine capabilities, resolve problems, review, and develop designs.
- Refer to previous designs for possible modification to meet current project needs and customer specifications, and to standardize machine platforms.
- Complete mechanical engineering designs by calculating operational parameters such as speeds, gear ratios, drives, torques, velocities, etc.
- Release parts for purchase and/or manufacturing.
- Identify and size commercial components according to calculations/theoretical requirements.
- Contact vendors regarding the suitability and availability of components required to assemble machine.
- Respond to questions from purchasing/manufacturing personnel and/or customers relative to machine performance and/or clarification of drawings.
- Perform and/or support field service for machine installations/field troubleshooting as needed.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by Mechanical Engineering Supervisor
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- BSME or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of engineering experience in mechanical design of packaging machinery and factory automation.
- Problem Solving skills to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, including gathering and analyzing information, developing alternative solutions.
- Have strong knowledge base of fabrication methods and processes such as milling, turning, welding, with an understanding of cost impacts
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to successfully handle a multi-tasked role
- Self-motivated, sense of urgency, personable and well organized
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time
- Must be fluent in the use of SolidWorks and AutoCAD 2D
Experience Preferred
10 years: of engineering experience in mechanical design of packaging machinery and factory automation
