Johnson Service Group is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for one our clients located at the Children's Hospital in Houston, TX. This role is part time 3 days a week but there may be a time this would be reduced to 1-2 days a week or increase to 4-5 days a week.
This role requires 1 year IV experience, PTCB certification, as well as state of Texas Pharmacy Tech registration and a can do attitude!
The Pharmacy Technician will travel to customer locations to provide support coverage, conduct training on our customers automation equipment, conduct competency reviews, and provide direction for improving site specific operations and efficiencies. The Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for learning the important terminology and components of our customer’s automation equipment. The Pharmacy Technician will provide troubleshooting, maintain optimal medication inventory levels, review / maintain reports. This role will will engage with various levels of customer service by identifying and addressing any customer concerns and report to the Pharmacy Services Manager. This position carries the responsibility for the successful completion of all operational tasks.
- Perform automation tasks in an aseptic, error free manner, consistent with prescribed guidelines.
- Follow Safe Handling of Hazardous Drugs procedures when handling medications.
- Responsible for identifying/ordering medications to ensure medication inventories are at optimal levels.
- Perform automation equipment cleaning, maintenance, and optimization as required.
- Responsible for monitoring and ordering consumable supplies required for the operation of the equipment.
- Responsible for performing advanced troubleshooting and prescribed maintenance of automation equipment and reporting unresolved equipment issues.
- Maintain a high level of communication with the pharmacy services manager and customer, to ensure proactive, solution-oriented problem identification and resolution.
- Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by aligning the Pharmacy Services Program to provide customer-focused support emphasizing quality, professionalism and responsiveness, by acting as liaison between our client and customer to assist with customer concerns.
- Conduct training and ensure completion of all required documents and compliance with all Pharmacy Services procedures and policies.
- Must be available to travel up to 100% of the time to various customer locations within the geographic location.
- Maintain fiscal responsibility for work-related expenses if traveling.
- Comply with reasonable procedures, policies and guidelines established by the Customer facility.
- Maintain national certification and all state required credentialing.
- Act as a resource for team members, providing training and/or assistance either on site or remotely to ensure optimal workflow.
Required Knowledge and Skills

Pharm Tech 1 Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Current State Board of Pharmacy Registration, if required
- Previous experience in pharmacy or healthcare industry
Pharm Tech 2 Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Current State Board of Pharmacy registration, if required
- Two years of experience working in related field
- Working knowledge of pharmacy automation
- Working knowledge of pharmacy automation
Pharm Tech 4 Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Current PTCB Certification
- A self-starter who is able to work independently and follow a detailed plan.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work well with customers and with employees at various levels.
- Ability to assist with analysis of training needs and to conduct training sessions.
- Previous experience in hospital pharmacy or healthcare industry
- Working Knowledge of pharmacy automation
- Ability to travel up to 100% of the time (or more than 80%)
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
- 1 year experience in IV Compounding
- Advanced Troubleshooting Skills with automation devices
- Proficient in the use of PPE and hand hygiene techniques
- Working knowledge of sterile environment requirements
- Knowledge of safe handling of hazardous medications
- Project management/implementation experience
- Knowledge of Adult Learning Techniques
Work Conditions
