Johnson Service Group is seeking a QA Technician located in Milpitas, CA for a 6-12 Month contract position.  7:30 am - 4:30 pm or 8 a.m. - 5:00 pm

Essential Functions (Expectations):

  • Proficient in Dimension Measurement using hand tools such as Protractor, Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Dial Indicators, Granite Surface Plates, Depth Gauges, Bore Gauges. Block Gauge, Plug Gauge, Thread Gauges, and Microscope.
  • Perform Mechanical Measurement and Inspection, Visual Inspection, and Functional Testing on wide variety of parts/material (Cable Harnesses, PCBAs, Sheet Metal, Injection Molded Plastic Component, Sub-assemblies, and Electro-Mechanical Modules) in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Create Quality Inspection Report, First Article Inspection Report (FAIR), Material Discrepancy Report, and analyze defect data in Agile Document Control System
  • Experience with SAP ERP system
  • Ability to coordinate with Production or Engineering for inspection issue
  • Make recommendation on disposition of questionable product; communicate with Quality or Manufacturing Engineers for clarification on the drawing or specifications.
  • Familiarity with IQC process. Perform material transaction in SAP system and move material physically in correct location and ensure count accuracy
  • Perform routine trending, analysis, reporting, and creation of presentation material for metric reporting on data associated with job function.
  • Maintain logs and data, records and perform cycle counts associated with job function (e.g., Non-conforming Materials, lot defect tracking, etc.).
  • Communicate and provide information to supplier on discrepancy material.
  • Effective communication with receiving/warehouse/shipping on the material status and quantity.
  • Effective communication with buyers and planners for material status / availability and priority.
  • Assist in SCAR (supplier corrective action request) creation / closure.
  • Assist equipment calibration coordination.
  • Assist /support MRB activities.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

The successful candidate will have the following skills:

  • Good organizational, listening, and verbal / written communication skills with demonstrated ability to follow Work instructions, Quality Manual, SOP and processes.
  • Understanding of Quality Control, ISO 9001, manufacturing terminology, and processes.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong mathematical skills to calculate distance, angle, and other drawing related measurement (basic statistical skills highly desirable).
  • Comprehend Bill of Material (BOM) to perform material completeness inspection.
  • Comprehend engineering drawings and specifications. GD&T knowledge is preferred.
  • Experience in Dimension Measurement using hand tools such as Caliper, Micrometer, Protractor, Dial Indicator, Bore Gauge, Depth Gauge, Block Gauge, Pin Gauge, Plug Gauge, Thread Gauge, and Height Gauge, etc.
  • Able to operate CMM (coordinate measuring machine), Optical Comparator, Optical CMM, or other automated Measuring Equipment
  • Proficient in computer skills especially Excel, Outlook, Word, and Power Point.
  • Note taking, documenting process steps, and formalizing documents.
  • Knowledge in industry standards for inspection like IPC for PCBAs and cables, SPI or Moltec for plastic.
  • Familiar with Corrective and Preventative actions (CAPA) process and RMA processes
  • Good verbal and written English skills. Able to communicate effectively with all the cross-functional staff such as Supply Chain, Engineering, Production, and Logistic.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Material Inspection (Mechanical Part, PCBA, Cable Harness, Injection Molded Parts, and Sheet Metal, and Electro-Mechanical Assembly

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Associates Degree or Technical Degree
  • ASQ Certified Mechanical Inspector
  • Knowledge of SAP/ Agile and ISO 13485

Work Conditions:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to perform lifting tasks of up to 35 pounds for short durations. Duties of this job may involve standing and/or walking for extended periods of time. Duties also involve daily keyboard data entry. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision
