Johnson Service Group is currently searching for Regulatory Affairs Manager to work for a food manufacturing and food packaging client in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, IL. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take action and gets involvement from upper management on any food safety and quality problems observed or reported by associates.
  • Participate in the design of new product launches by providing regulatory expertise on product formulation, package design, labeling, and claims development including mandatory nutrition labeling, health claims, nutrient content claims, ingredient declaration, serving size, and allergen claims.
  • Create final nutritional facts panel and ingredient statements for artwork and communications.
  • Review and approve regulatory/nutrition components of final packaging artwork, labelcopy, and research concepts for substantion and compliance.
  • Review and keep current all in house finished product specification and the cross reference of all supplied customer specifications.
  • Champion regulatory discipline with internal functions and external partners.
  • Proactively understand and interpret regulatory trends (food processing, ingredients, formulations, labeling/claims) and develop point of view on impact.
  • Perform assessments and develop proactive and pre-emptive plans as it pertains to emerging trends.
  • Review regulations as well as relevant certification requirements, including Kosher, etc.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of increasing responsibility in regulatory role in food manufacturing environment.
  • BS in food science, biological sciences, nutrition, or related field required. Advanced degree a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of regulations and requirements (FDA/NAFTA/CFIA)
  • Interpersonal and team skills for working with employees at all levels within the company.
  • Ability to work in accordance with food safety and personal safety policies.
  • Ability to solve or seek out answers in order to provide guidance on regulatory matters.
  • Identification and resolution to regulatory issues.
  • Knowledge of nutritional database i.e. genesis
  • High level of strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborate successfully with cross functional teams in fast paced environment.
