Senior Accountant (Fortune 500 / SAP / GAAP)

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is actively searching for a Senior Accountant for our client’s Atlanta, GA area operation.  This is a Direct Hire position with a competitive salary and fantastic benefits.  This is a fantastic opportunity to join a Fortune 500 industry leader.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform general accounting close activities for specified divisions, ensuring compliance to schedule, preparing accounting journal entries, account reconciliation and analysis, recording of standard and complex journal entries, fixed asset accounting, intercompany accounting, payroll accruals, judgmental accruals, E&O
  • Ensuring GL integrity, timely and accurate posting to appropriate accounts, chart of account maintenance and proper classification of assets and liabilities
  • Accurate and timely financial reporting in conformance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), Company Policy and SOX.
  • Responsible for commissions/royalties accounting process, ensuring completeness and accuracy of systematic reporting, working closely with contract administration to ensure timely processing of data changes, and ensuring appropriate approval of disbursements
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet, P&L statement and several ad-hoc reports for multiple Segments' including local, corporate and SOX requirements, coordinate Trial Balance reviews and sign off with the divisions/business partners
  • Supports internal and external audits, sales and use tax filings and federal tax filings
  • Establishes and maintains effective work relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skills necessary for assigned responsibilities
  • Responsible for ensuring that the results for affiliate entities are accurate and for reviewing the intercompany relationships to ensure that all amounts are eliminated each month
  • Leads strategic corporate projects and team continuous improvement initiatives and standardization
  • Applies fundamental accounting theories and concepts to support the business operations in day-to-day accounting needs, resolving General Accounting related issues and disputes or escalating, as required.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years in corporate accounting environments, preferably multi-layered, global organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare account reconciliations and analysis for a broad cross section of accounts with minimal direction. Experience to include several areas of accounting.  Preferably Cost Accounting, Fixed Assets, Intercompany, Payroll Accruals and Revenue Recognition
  • Ability to succeed in a deadline driven and fast paced general ledger accounting environment to include performing monthly financial closings including account reconciliations.
  • Previous experience with Blackline
  • Audit and SOX Experience
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, managing spreadsheets and using advanced formulas
  • Good understanding of US GAAP
  • SAP experience highly preferred
  • FDM and HFM preferred
  • Public accounting experience preferred
