Senior Accountant - CPA License and SOX Compliance preferred

Johnson Service Group is seeking to fill a 6 Month contract assignment to support the General Accounting Team in Raleigh, NC to help manage the general ledgers of our client and their subsidiaries and affiliates.  This position is remote due to Covid.  However, this candidate must be able to report to our clients office if needed. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • 3 + years’ of experience working in public accounting or 5+ years in business environment as it relates to accounting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in finance, accounting, business or related field
  • CPA license a plus
  • 3+ years’ of experience in a healthcare, high-tech or software company as it relates to accounting.
  • 2+ years’ of experience in a SOX accounting environment
  • System skills: Quickbooks, SAP, Tableau

Responsibilities:

  • Support the month-end accounting close process to ensure timely, accurate and complete recognition of financial transactions.
  • Ensure the balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled to supporting documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and supporting schedules for internal and external users.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders in order to provide for a collaborative team environment.
  • Maintain adequate and concise documentation to support management review, including audit support.
  • Support and execute an appropriate internal controls environment for related financial reporting risks.
  • Sales Tax accounting.
  • Maintain the company bank accounts and perform cash related activities.
  • Support AP and AR accounting as needed, including transaction processing
  • Support financial statement audits.
  • Actively support and provide technical expertise to General Accounting projects, providing data analysis and recommendations for process improvement opportunities. Leverage experience and available guidance to provide input to new processes that ensure complete and accurate recognition of financial transactions.
  • Develop and recommend changes to existing processes that positively affect workflow and maximize efficiencies.
