Johnson Service Group is a nationwide Engineering and Technical staffing firm who is currently hiring for a Welder on 1st shift located in Western Suburbs of Chicago, IL. This is a contract to hire opportunity and can start immediately.
Job Responsibilities:
- Tack, root pass, fill pass, and finish weld assemblies.
- Operate the acetylene torch.
- Ability to operate automatic TIG and MIG welding equipment.
- Grind welds to remove defects and spatter using hand grinder.
- Interpret Technical drawings including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Determine correct weld filler material and size.
- Layout, prepare, tack, and assemble flange options.
- Maintain good housekeeping and safety standards.
Job Requirements:
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have ability to communicate, read and write English.
- Basic computer literacy using MicroSoft Windows.
- Must have 3+ years of experience, with the ability to set-up and operate automatic TIG and MIG welding equipment along with other miscellaneous hand held equipment.
- Must be able to use basic measuring techniques including use of tape measure, calipers, square, and level.
- Must be able to interpret blue prints and weld symbols.
- Must be able to add multiple components to meet specific dimensions.
